FOR POTENTIAL SALES REPRESENTATIVES JOB DESCRIPTION This position is 100% outside sales. The position is for an exceptionally well organized, independent, motivated individual. Due to the fact we represent school systems, excellent personality skills must be coupled with an honest and ethical background. Our company consists of dedicated full time and part time representatives. Full time representatives successfully complete four to five schools per month. Part time representatives successfully complete two to three school per month. JOB DETAILS As an Athletic Programs representative, you are fully trained by the company and provided with all the necessary materials needed to conduct your job. Our company handles the entire production process as well as taking care of all the billings, proofs, communications, etc. for your territory. Your primary job is to sell advertisements and do a good job handling the school accounts. JOB STRUCTURE This sales position has three components: 1) In the beginning, you will call and pitch potential schools on the telephone for an athletic/school folder. You will be trained and given a `phone presentation'. It will then be your job to book appointments with potential schools in your area. 2) You will go out in person on the school appointments and sign them up for a folder. 3) You will go out into their local community and sell advertisements on the folder. You will have memorized our `ad sales presentation' and will be following our proven methodology for prospecting and successfully selling ads at a school. Athletic Programs also provides a telemarketer to assist its sales representatives in booking appointments if someone is weak in this area or does not have adequate time. JOB DETAILS/TYPICAL WORK WEEK Monday 9am - 3pm: Call and book school appointments for Friday. The above cycle continues until you have developed enough desired school accounts for yourself and your territory. Your `territory' is typically a 60-90 mile circle around your personal residence. We do not believe in selling ads over the telephone. We always go in person and see all our potential advertisers face to face. Similarly, the schools closest to where you live are going to be the most important for you to contact first. COMPENSATION This is the starting compensation scale: AT $1000 `IN HAND' (checks collected) YOU RECEIVE A $300 BASE (above $1001 the
base becomes part of commission) You always get paid on all your sales, but as money owed from advertisers comes in, your commission is always adjusted. For example, You sell $2400 in total ads sales at a school, but you turn in $2200 because one person has to mail in a $200 check. Your payout would be: $2200 times 25% + $50 + $50 + $50 +$50 (expense credit) = $750.00. Once the $200 arrives, you would receive 25% times $200 for the remaining $50 due in commission. Your total payout on the school is now $800.00. Our compensation scale yields a 33%-35% commission rate for a new representative. Additional bonus and commission points are given accordingly for the following things: For example, if you are a full time representative and sell $8500 in one month, you receive a $200 monthly bonus. If you do your own phoning for school appointments, you receive an additional 2 ½ % of your sales at the schools you sign up. (A few other increases and reimbursements are applicable and covered in our interview process, but total compensation never exceeds 39%). Our company sales average over the past few years has been $2600.00 per school. Our successful sales reps enjoy their job and are very competent. A successful sales rep is always in the range of $1900.00 to $2700.00 in sales per school. We want someone with the confidence to build and maintain higher sales numbers as well as the ability to sign up school accounts. PART TIME VERSUS FULL TIME Our most important concern is the quality and completion of your work, not the volume of schools you produce. A part time rep selling $2800 at two schools per month is a much more valuable asset than a full time rep selling $1600 at five schools per month. For example, a parent who wishes to make some extra income and be around home for their children makes an excellent part time rep. A seasoned sales professional who desires a $40,000-$45,000 yearly income and has thirty to forty hours a week to dedicate to sales is a full time representative. Either way, all of our outside sales representatives maintain an independent contractor status and are issued 1099s each year. Please submit your cover letter, resume and photoID/Drivers license to sales@athleticprogramsinc.com or you can fax this information to us at: 732-975-9899. We look forward to speaking with you soon. |
